For the first nine months of the year, Tiffany earned $30.72 million, or 85 cents a share, compared with $22.67 million, or 65 cents a share, a year ago. Sales were $649.9 million for the first nine months of the year, up from $594.5 million last year.

Tiffany came out with its Lucida ring, its first new diamond engagement ring since 1886. The stone in a Tiffany 1837 ring ring is set into four prongs, and in shape, it resembles a square with each of the corners slightly snipped off.
Unlike a conventional emerald-cut diamond, which has flatter, more rectangular facets, the Lucida has the more sparkly, snowflake-like facets of a round diamond.
Available in platinum or 18-karat gold at all Tiffany stores, the Lucida rings start at $2,000 for a one-third carat diamond. The largest Lucida diamond weighs slightly more than four carats.
Also in time for the New Year's marriage rush is Cartier's Astrolove ring, a Coin Edge ring of the Love ring that Cartier introduced 30 years ago.
